What Qualifications Do Simply Helping Support Workers Need?

More and more Australians are receiving trusted support services at home. So, to keep up with demand, we’ve been busy hiring a heap of compassionate care and support workers!

Here’s an insight into exactly what we look for when onboarding simply amazing team members, and the qualifications they need before providing your care.

Necessary Checks

The first step to hiring a simply amazing team member is to verify a few ‘checks’. These checks ensure that a potential team member is skilled in working with people from all walks of life, and is able to deliver the quality care that Simply Helping is known for.

NDIS Worker Screening Check

We support people from all walks of life, with all abilities. So, it’s important that our potential team members undergo an NDIS Worker Screening Check. This check verifies that an individual can deliver valuable support to a person living with disability.

National Police Check

Our potential team members must hold a recent National Police Check to be considered for a role at Simply Helping. This check ensures the candidate is a law-abiding citizen, with a spotless police record.

Working with Children Check

We provide a range of services that may be delivered to a person under the age of 18. So, our candidates are required to take out a Working with Children Check before becoming a Simply Helping employee. This check ensures the individual is suited to work safely with children.

Essential Training

If a potential Simply Helping team member has undergone the relevant checks, we’ll then assess their qualifications and training. Each staff member must have undergone first aid training prior to applying. However, the required additional training depends on the position this staff member will fill. For example, if they’re applying to deliver domestic assistance, they must have in-depth cleaning experience and knowledge of household tasks.

If a candidate is applying to become a Simply Helping care and support worker, they must hold a minimum certificate III in a relevant support field. However, many of our support workers hold qualifications above the minimum certification, with years of industry experience to boot!

With all the checks and assessments complete, we determine one final factor—whether the candidate is a great fit for the culture at Simply Helping. Every single team member we employ is compassionate, with a caring attitude and a genuine love for providing support. Qualifications are one thing—but it takes a very special person to provide care and support, the Simply Helping way.
