Simply Helping Paul to Rebuild His Health and Confidence

When Paul first contacted Simply Helping Central and Northern Melbourne, he was facing one of the most challenging times in his life. A recent job loss, brought on by declining health, had taken a toll on both his physical and mental wellbeing. With his daily routine disrupted and his main social connection, his workplace, no longer part of his life, Paul felt isolated, anxious, and unsure about what the future would hold.

Paul had never accessed support services through the NDIS before, and the process felt completely new to him. Understandably, he felt uncertain and overwhelmed. “When I first started with Simply Helping Central and Northern Melbourne,” Paul recalls, “I was so anxious. I’d call the office every day just to confirm my support bookings and check who was coming. But everyone was always patient and kind.”

From the very beginning, Paul noticed the difference that genuine and consistent support could make. Simply Helping’s team of support workers took the time to understand his background, goals, and challenges. “What really helped me was knowing that every person who supports me knows my story. They’ve all been non-judgemental and helpful. That’s made a huge difference; it’s helped reduce my anxiety and made me a better person.”

With the right support in place, Paul began a journey of remarkable personal transformation. Supported by his Simply Helping team, he worked on healthy meal planning and preparation, attended regular medical appointments, and re-engaged with his community through social activities. Simply Helping also assisted Paul in finding new accommodation that better suits his renewed lifestyle.

Today, Paul has achieved some impressive milestones. He has reached a healthier weight, gone into remission from type 2 diabetes, and is working hard toward his next goal, which is returning to the workforce.  Paul credits the consistency and dedication of the Simply Helping Central and Northern Melbourne team as a key part of his success. “They’ve done a really good job. I recommend them to anyone, and I’d give them a five-star rating.”

Paul’s journey is far from over, and he’s just getting started. With his confidence restored and his health on track, he’s looking to the future with optimism and purpose. At Simply Helping Central and Northern Melbourne, we believe everyone should have the right support to live well and with confidence.
