SMOOTHIES FOR A HEALTHY IMMUNE SYSTEM

Are you looking for an easy way to help boost your immune system? Check out these immunity smoothie recipes that don’t just taste great, but are also packed full of healthy vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants.

Immunity-Boosting Ingredients

There are many ingredients that may help to naturally boost our immune system. And thankfully, many of these ingredients taste great in smoothies!

For example, fruits such as oranges, lemons, grapefruits, and kiwi are packed with Vitamin C. Blueberries are a natural antioxidant, while ginger is an antioxidant that also may have anti-inflammatory properties.

Spinach may be the ultimate immunity smoothie addition, though. Spinach is packed full of nutrients like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K, as well as iron, potassium and fibre. Wow!

Last but not least, we have yoghurt. Most yoghurts with live cultures (like most Greek yoghurts) will help with immunity while adding in Vitamin D. Avoid flavoured yoghurts, though, as they’re often packed with sugar.

Note: Always consult your doctor before making any dietary changes and to learn how to best boost your immune system.

Immunity Green Smoothie

Serves: 2-3

Ingredients:

1 cup chilled orange juice

1 cup plain Greek yoghurt (labelled as containing live cultures)

1 medium ripe banana

Ground fresh ginger to taste, start with 2 tsp if unsure

2 cups baby spinach

1 cup fresh mango

A handful of ice, add as desired

Method:

Place orange juice and Greek yoghurt in the blender first to avoid jamming the blades. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. Add more ice for a thicker texture and add more orange juice if it’s too thick. That’s it!

Immunity Berry Smoothie

Serves: 2-3

Ingredients:

1 cup chilled orange juice

1/2 cup plain Greek yoghurt (labelled as containing live cultures)

1 medium ripe banana

1/3 cup kiwi fruit

1/3 cup blueberries

1/3 cup strawberries

A handful of ice, add as desired

Method:

Follow the same method as the immunity green smoothie, adding wet ingredients first. If using frozen berries, ice may not be necessary. Enjoy!
